West Village Hospital Betrayal Continues
Dear All :
The New York Timespublished a shocking article about a proposed sale of LICH buildings to developers for a luxury condo conversion, with a plan for an urgent care center.
Sadly, some "community groups," which were not identified by The NYTimes, are coming forward to "consider settling for an emergency room with some backup beds."
Sound familiar ?
What is playing out in Brooklyn is reminiscent of the political bait-and-switch that we experienced with politicians, who turned their backs on St. Vincent's.
The future of LICH will be a major test for Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio. Will he downsize full-service hospital care to an urgent care center, so that speculative developers can scoop up valuable hospital real estate for pennies on the dollar ?

The only question that remains is whether voters will hold the mayor-elect accountable for having made campaign promises to put a moratorium on all hospital closings ?
Thank you for all that you do.
