The head of a crooked construction lab is heading to prison for faking test results for concrete used in such landmark projects as Yankee Stadium, the Intrepid museum, Lincoln Tunnel and the Second Avenue Subway.
Alan Fortich, 44, of Whitestone, NY -- owner of American Standard Testing and Consulting Laboratories, will serve one to three years prison after pleading guilty to enterprise corruption in Manhattan Supreme Court, officials said today.
Five other officials with the company -- which pocketed millions in fees while faking results and inspections regarding the strength and quality of construction concrete over the course of ten years -- will be serving combinations of probation and community service for their supporting roles in Fortich's corner-cutting.
