Hi all, happy new year! At some point soon (asap really) I'd greatlyappreciate input regarding the attached document. It's a petitionwhich tries to include all the stuff that, at least in my mind (andhopefully in a lot of other peoples minds) would make sense for thepeople of NYC to get behind asap. To help clarify a vision and toUNIFY our message and most of all, create community building, cultureof peaceful resistance, mass action, information sharing, mutual aid,and a GREEN sustainable economy in NYC. I welcome any comments, suggestions, alerts to glaring omissions, etc! Thanks in advance!Peace, love, strength, courage, and good health in the coming year!Matt
Note from Suzannah -- add a new commission like Knapp and Mollen to do the job Internal Affairs and CCRB still closed by Hurricane Sandy will not do because they over whelming protect corrupt cops -- yeah we only have NYPD PBA fixing and favors in the Bronx!
We need hospitals open and functional throughout NYC not just on the Upper East Side.
We need infrastructures all collapsing under Bloomberg's reckless Tsunami of Development built on old NY's infrastructures.
The Civil Law Suits will bring reform and pressure politicians as well to stop stop and frisks or cut the volume radically.
The NY Pensions have been mishandled and raided under Bloomberg a supposedly biz whiz.
We need the Pension crisis addressed.
Poverty addressed not phony pr.
Ditto homelessness
Full refund on billions of tax dollars mostly tech deals and tech contractors plus sue auditors as well. We were robbed. Largest abuse in history and ironic under Bloomberg a supposed great trch biz whiz. Arrests including City Hall for ECTP 911 and CityTime and maybe 311. Can't get figures on 311 but sure 311 yet another Tax Payers Titanic.
Most of all reform and return democracy. Years of going to meetings where huge volumes of NYers say no to community crushing development and wrong government policies all over run by oligarchs and city council puppets.
We need leaders and we don't have them.
p.s - url for document is:http://occupyunionsquare.net also, pleasefeel free to forward it to other people. Would like somethingconcrete soon so I can set up a place for people to mail it to, createonline petition, etc.p.s.s. - in typing this, i already realized i missed 3 other things..water fluoridation, forced vaccinations, gmo labeling will fit thisin. also someone just sent me the below... phew! will have to find away to make this fit on a front/back page! will probably need to handout magnifying glasses with the document!> We need to stop closing hospitals/create a single payer healthcare system. Put all hospitals under HHC.>> We need to reform the Board of Elections, CCRB, internal affairs at NYPD, and open up the City Carter to reforms without a gatekeeping commission solely appointed by the mayor and his enablers.>> We also need to abolish the ULURP real estate laws that promote zone-busting development. The people should have the final say whether public resources (like non-profit charity hospitals like St. Vincent's) should become for-profit luxury condos (by the Rudin Management Company), for example. This would stop land grabs that take community resources away from us.>> To pay for all these reforms, we can propose a Wall Street financial transaction tax.>> Any and all discretionary funds, accounts, lulus, or allocations should only be disbursed through your people's budget ; this would cut down on corruptive influences on making insider, politically-motivated budget allocations.>> One of my friends is calling for a federal commission to investigate NYPD (like the old Knapp commission). I don't know if you want to list this demand, but I'm putting this out there.>> I like the idea of your petitiSubject: Input from OccuEvolveHi folks, happy new year! Would love input from the group as far asthe wording, inclusiveness, etc. of this document. It's a petition forBloomberg, Kelly and City Council. Mother of all petitions. If it'ssomething you'd like to get behind and really push, maybe we canreword or add things. Would be great to keep 2 pages front and back.As it stands you, some people may need a magnifying glass to read it.;-) Also we'd probably want to come up with a good name for thedocument. Please take time to read! Worked on it for a while. Thanks! Solidarity, Matt
