Gale Brewer and Mike Bloomberg Slammed Upper West Side Size Store Fronts

Gale Brewer probably has the last rent controlled apartment on the Upper West Side and still thinks it's the 1050's. Both Ms. Brewer and our dictitorial mayor need a reality check.The proliference of those mega-stores and developments were encouraged by the city.What these two neglect to admit is that the unbridaled rent increases imposed upon local shopkeepers is as much to blame for their demise as the competition.The rents on commercial space around Lincoln Center or the 72nd Street/ Broadway hub, rival the rents in Midtown.Maybe the city council should be revisiting the long ago proposal about rent regulations for commercial spaces. The time might be right to give this more serious thought.
