Prosecutors know that often the police used heavy handed tactics against protesters.
The pd provoked or gave misleading instructions to protesters.
Anyone that spent any time or went to OWS protests that the vast majority of protesters were peacefully protesting. Although their could have been a few knuckleheads that illegal or unreasonable behavior was discouraged by other protesters.
In N.Y.C we have seen protesters sprayed with pepper spray for marching. Protesters were told they could cross the bridge and then they were corralled and arrested. The pd video tapes everything now. If protesters had gotten out of control I find it surprising that any police force in the U.S did not have video evidence from a dozen video cameras in every direction.
Maybe they had no evidence because the protesters had done nothing wrong
I am sure Albany prosecutors had either visited or heard stories that the protesters were overall peaceful.
It is very sad that U.S citizens can be arrested for protesting. As a country we we have tried to protect people's human rights. We have tried to protect people from dictators and tyrants.
We have given into modern day tyrants, Wall Street, big banks and Goldman sacks.
The new tyranny, being collared financially with high interest rates and low paying jobs..
Meanwhile the few only have to pay 14% income tax. People with loopholes to get out of paying taxes.
