Could something happen like his here in NYC? Yes. We don’t have lots of nuclear plants but just an FYI, I was told Con Ed at 14th Street happens to be right on an earth quake fault line.
There is no doubt that NYC can and has been hit by earthquakes. I briefly lived on 21st Street by Park Avenue South and I felt place shake. It felt like a subway running underneath but there was no subway.
Could New York City experience a Tsunami? The answer is yes.
If there was something like this --- every greedy and stupid built that made some short sighted, soulless creature posing as a human and the rotten to the core politicians that help facilitate the builds would all collapse. I have peered in to Dept. of Buildings and witness how corrupt developers that should be shut down are not.
All these builds -- a record number under Mike Bloomberg would collapse. The corrupt MTA that takes in money hand over fist has allowed the subway stations to dilapidated to the point of a third world -- just like NYC’s street conditions and side walks and the MTA never expanded it’s stair wells so if we had an earthquake tsunami and people were not evacuated in advance warned to by scientists it could be awful.
Japan had to know this could happen but it wasn’t like anyone was rushing to shut down those nuclear plants just like Dept. of Buildings know about earth quake concerns but has done zero to enforce this and just about any other corrupt broken violations so do the math.
We don’t have loads of Nuclear Power Plants here in NYC but thanks to greedy, stupid corrupt people and their myopia the people of New York have a lot to worry about down the road.
