Mercer Hotel, upper management and customers general attitude smug arrogant and above the law?

Do they have a few retired NYPD guys helping them along the way....?   Do they feel they generally dictate to the NYPD including whom to ticket like the entire vendor population to wipe them off the sidewalk but Heaven forbid they actually get a ticket?  

Reminder:  I witnessed a retired NYPD commander working for the Rudin family instruct a young police officer from the 6th Precinct to not ticket a Rudin flunkie's car illegally parked!
