This was sent to me -- someone's opinion...Note Bill DeBlasio has failed to respond to me and others on corrupt dealing re: Dept of Building after 311 operators referred me and others to Public Advocate. I have a list of city council and NY State Assembley and Senator Squadron non responsive.
In a tough economy where Mayor Bloomberg had demanded huge budget cuts for school aid, Fire Depts and allowed a major West Village Hospital and trauma center (St Vincent's ) to close its doors without so much as a dime to help save it and to raise major tolls on bridges and tunnels, outrageous parking tickets, Red light fines, increased taxi fares, etc...the NYC City Council and Speaker Quinn, pulled a rabbit out of her hat for one industry that dominates her political district, restaurants and night clubs. Anyone who knows the West Village knows this hotspot is overrun by a hand full of greedy night club giants who makes millions and millions of dollars. They are not hurting. The names changes, many times, are to avoid illegal activity or lawsuits or tax burdens.
The NY Daily Newsreports Ms. Quinn seemingly was working with nightclub lawyer and lobbyist, Robert Bookman, the ex--NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs official who, at one time, represents he worked for the agency who enforced the laws of NYC. Now, he works to keep them out of trouble.
The press also reported, Public "Advocate,"Bill DeBlasio, supports the elimination of the unknown health inspection codes seemingly without anyone reporting what is being amended,. Hey, Bill, before you throw away any health safety laws that, at one point, were enforced, maybe you should try answering your email and letters from the public instead of cherry picking what issues you will advocate on.
It appears safety is a bargaining chip before the next election... go figure...
