The depravity of the New York Senate knows know limits. The story that the Wall Street Journal should cover i(if they weren't accomplices to the corruption) is the illegal confirmation of Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman by the NY Senate's Judiciary Commission. The facts are plain as day: the SJC violated every one of their mandates in regard to Lippman's confirmation by the NY Senate.
FACTS:
There was NO public notification for the public confirmation hearing as required under NY State law.
ONLY hand-picked supporters of Lippman were invited to the hearing, to praise Lippman and applaud each other.
At the time of his confirmation, complaints of criminal corruption by Lippman were PENDING before the Commission on Judicial Conduct, yet the CJC did not bring these complaints to the attention of the SJC for their consideration. CJC Chief was present at the confirmation hearing but DID NOT MENTION the serious allegations against Lippman that were on his desk at that moment. Some of this evidence showed clear and illicit conflicts of interest in the NOMINATION process that selected Lippman.
Documented evidence of Lippman's corruption sent to and received by ALL senators on the SJC prior to the hearing was ignored by all and never mentioned at the hearings.
Documented evidence against Lippman furnished by citizens who attended the hearing was ignored and no time was allotted to assess its merits.
None of the evidence against Lippman was mentioned to the full Senate by the SJC, resulting in a full Senate confirmation vote without sufficient knowledge of the nominee.
None of the news venues that covered the confirmation hearing mentioned that there was any witness testimony in opposition to Lippman's confirmation
