I strongly urge you not to approve or support New York University’s massive planned 20 year expansion plan in the Village. The plan is not only wrong for the Village and surrounding neighborhoods, which would be severely impacted, but New York City and even NYU itself.

The plan requires undoing long-standing neighborhood zoning and open space protections and urban renewal deed restrictions, as well as selling off public land used as parks. NYU would shoehorn 2.5 million square feet of space – the equivalent of the Empire State Building! – into an area south of Washington Square Park which simply cannot absorb it. It would drastically tip the balance of this and surrounding neighborhoods. At best, in a mere 20 years, NYU would be back asking for more zoning changes and more public land to expand further.

There are much better alternatives. In the Financial District such development would be contextual and welcome, adding to the diversity of that growing neighborhood. It would be just a few minutes by subway and walking distance from NYU’s main hubs in Washington Square and Downtown Brooklyn. It would allow NYU vastly greater possibilities for future growth, and in a way that would help the city, not strangle and overwhelm some of its most historic and delicately-balanced neighborhoods.

As I have been saying for years now, the only think king Mike Bloomberg, Amanda , mega-millionaire, the socialite city planner and John the Church Murderer Sexton have not done is provide NYU trolley and buses to move the community, an inconvenient presence out for NYU's unending need to expand and exploit real estate in any way possible using their status as higher ed as a cover for higher greed!

Visit 120 East 12th Street and see how John Sexton got his name the church murderer....see the facade of St. Ann's from 1847 and he couldn't have gotten it done with out an illegal air sale to NYU by the USPS.  The State of NY is not going to prosecute the USPS or NYU -- those lucky devils but the USPS loses mega-billions at an alarming rate.  St. Ann's from 1847 survived everything all these years but NYU's need and greed to build yet another mega dorm.

King Mike please explain why someone like Jeffrey Epstein that get sprung early from jail by the Feds calls Virgin Islands his home when he owns one of the biggest houses in NYC. Could you imagine if you could tax him as a NYC residence. Why do the top firms here in NYC urge their mega rich clients to declare anywhere but NY as their main residence? Why were all the celebrities that endorsed you Mike Bloomberg unable to vote for you Mike. Because they don't declare NYC as their home even though they use the city as their playground and playing field to make mega bucks. In Purnick's awful book - pure puff on Bloomberg she writes Rattner urged Mike to run for a third term and oops forgets to mention the pension fund scandals and investigations which were common knowledge. She, Mike and Rattner thought it would never ever come to this..being fined 12 million, the blame falling on Rattner, Quadrangle disavowing Rattner and the SEC considering a three year ban of Rattner!
