IDIOT- from perspective of a person living in the city the hype was far harder on people than the storm- this constant hype had a lot of people- especially elderly people really scared- then the amount of money individuals spent to survive the "hurricane" of the century-- in areas of Long ISland- NJ- yes- so much rain will for sure cause flooding- but in NYC shutting down the transit system was retarded-- I met one crusty last night absolutley soaked having to walk to Bed-Sty- he looked like he was ready to drop-- the mayor is an idiot to have shut down the transit system-- the weather here now is nice- but nobody can get around!!!

Since the community is now so yuppie most workers cannot afford to live here- for example the guy in the grocery store next door- he lives in the Bronx- so he had o catch the last train at noon- so out of work saturday- cannot come in on Sunday- and the system hopefully will be up to speed on monday-- '

Pre-Irene Hitting here NYC Gov Bloomberg Administration has failed in my opinion

Something already has happened very much like Bloomberg’s blizzard but I am not posting on blog.

Bad reflects badly on Bloomberg administration again dropping the ball.

Mayor Bloomberg and Puppet Quinn Implore NYers to Stay Home but No Problems With Horses Working today....Sad Stuff Read Donny Moss’s update.

Dear animal advocate:

Several hours ago, portions of NYC were evacuated for the first time in history, and the largest public transportation system in the country was shut down due to Hurricane Irene.   With conditions deteriorating, Mayor Bloomberg  implored NYers to stay home for our own safety and so that emergency vehicles can easily navigate the streets.  Downpours occurred throughout the day.

In spite of all of the above and the law which clearly states that carriage operators cannot work during "ice, heavy rain or other slippery conditions," dozens of horse-drawn carriage operators were working as of 4:30 p.m.   If history repeats itself, the horses will be forced to make the long, treacherous trip through the streets of midtown back to the "stables" when the storm intensifies.

As usual, the ASPCA, which collects an untold amount of money from donors in the name of helping the carriage horses, allowed the carriage drivers to leave the stables this morning and to work all day in the wet streets in spite of the law.

The ASPCA, which was founded to protect the carriage horses, continues to stand by and watch as the carriage operators to break the law.   They mock --  instead of support -- the advocates who are working tirelessly to take the horses out of harm's way.  And they continue to refuse to use their substantial clout, power and resources to shut this industry down, in spite of their own stance that horse-drawn carriages should be banned from NYC.   

The horse-drawn carriage industry is also enabled -- if not empowered -- by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who has blocked all efforts to take these horses out of midtown, killing bills in committee before they see the light of day.   In fact, Quinn has killed every meaningful animal protection bill introduced at City Hall since she became Speaker in 2006.

MTA Shut Down but Not Carriage Horses! ASPCA Hello?

President Obama declared a state of emergency for New York State about 5 p.m. on Friday in anticipation of Hurricane Irene, a Category 2 storm, making landfall on the East Coast. Philip E. Parr, a former member of the New York City Fire Department and former federal coordinator for relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, was named the coordinating officer. 

The President of the US - not even the mayor or governor - but the President! 

Yet as of 1:36 PM on Saturday- the ASPCA has still not suspended the carriage horses from working. Do they know more than all the weather forecasters?  

We know that they have always enabled the industry - but this is just absurd!

f. Owners shall not allow a horse to be worked on a public highway, path or street during adverse weather or other dangerous conditions which are a threat to the health or safety of the horse. A horse being worked when such conditions develop shall be immediately returned to the stable by the most direct route.

NYC Charter - Title 24 Chapter 04 -- § 4-05. Working Conditions. 
(b) Environment. (1) Owners shall not allow a horse to be worked on a public highway, path or street during adverse weather or other conditions which are a threat to the health or safety of the horse and the public. Adverse weather conditions shall include but not be restricted to snow, ice, heavy rain or other
slippery conditions. A horse being worked when such conditions develop shall be returned to the stable by the most direct route as soon as practicable.

If the ASPCA is afraid to suspend the business for safety and humane reasons, afraid that they might be sued, then they are not doing their job. The City of NY should enter a contract with an outside entity and dump the ASPCA.

We pay Gartner for consulting and “quality control”.   I have a question, actually two....

1) how much have paid Gartner?    Since Mike came to power, he has wasted and got us involved in the largest white collar crimes in NYC gov. history  and we are aiming to make him the ex-king of outsourcing although he wants to hire all his pals we want him to stop and keep NYC gov workers rather than continue to lay them off.

Gartner unfortunately has not been accused of anything wrong but if you read Sally’s article it sure sounds like they did! 

2) Why can’t NYC gov. workers do what Gartner does including the comptroller’s office as long as we have some one like John Liu and not Bill Thompson who allowed CityTime to flourish along with Mike Bloomberg and Mark Page.

This New Yorker is really angry and I want our money back plus damages and RICO charges but we can’t even get arrests and you wonder if special provisions and protection are being made?

Reminder SAIC robbed tax payer money using the FBI before Rudy brought in SAIC to work on the Tax Payer’s Titanic also brought in by Rudy called CityTime.  Rudy threw away AutoTime which was created and run by City Workers and could have been expanded.  Getting in bed with SAIC of course was better for Rudy’s ambitions including his eyes on The White House and look at SAIC’s new hire.  Sadly mr. great biz man Mike Bloomberg treated SAIC like heroin and Mike as a drug king pin and pushed this corrupt deal and put his flunkies including Pat Harris’s husband and Mark Page (Bondy’s boss you think Page would be admitting he dropped the ball and worry about jail) on the MTA board and probably had them push the corrupt stank SAIC MTA deal that would have been another nightmare for New York Tax payers.

Getting back to SAIC’s powerful hires this one from the Secret Service...do you think this is just a hint at why we cannot get arrests and SAIC doesn’t do (almost)  any competitive bidding aka the fix is in...just look at the MTA deal that almost was.
